Who else wants to experience astral projection from the comfort of your very own home? This may not be the most “believable” of the bunch, but playing with the paranormal is often the best gateway to the ethereal worlds. Everyone’s 1st OBE is a little different but there are commonalities that people report.

My first OBE was very low energy, it wasn’t anything like what most of the books say it’s like in which they describe grand adventures and epic spiritual explorations. The separation itself had a lot of vibrations and rushing noises which meant I wasn’t really relaxed enough for a clean exit, but I was able to make it out anyway.

(Many books say to induce vibrations but this is a mistake, vibrations are a form of nonphysical friction and you waste energy when in them. It’s much better to relax into the quiet zone after vibrations before you attempt a separation. The exit will be smoother and the OBE will be much brighter and more solid.)

I had exit blindness and could barely stand up because I had such little energy. I stumbled away from my bed and was able to get my sight working a little bit and see the nonphysical version of my bedroom dimly. I could see that it was definitely different and I was definitely not physical. For instance I had a computer on a desk which appeared to be a different shape than it was in waking awareness.

I staggered over to the window and looked out, there were a number of people in their yards doing various day to day tasks but they weren’t people who live there physically. I blacked out shortly thereafter. It was not really a grand experience but it did give me motivation to do much more exploration and see what it is that’s going on in O.B.E.s

I think most of the literature on OBEs is inaccurate in that everything that’s published has to be larger than life and very impressive in order to sell the books. However, the reality is (based on my experiences and the experiences of the large number of reports people have posted at the saltcube.com forum) is that your first OBE will probably be relatively mundane.

O.B.E.s can definitely be a lot of fun and you can do amazingly cool things like fly and walk through walls and teleport. You can basically be a superhero and sometimes they’re actually more solid and detailed than waking awareness. A few times after an OBE my physical sight seemed bland and dream-like compared to the hyper detail I’d had in the OBE.

However, for people who are starting out the first dozen or so of your OBEs will probably be pretty dull. To address this I’ve created a system show people how to have their first 100 OBEs in 100 days.

The idea is that by having a bunch of really short “micro-OBEs” back to back that you make progress much more quickly than if you have one long OBE and then stop. The system shows how to do one short OBE that only lasts a minute or so, and then immediately induce another minute long OBE. The second OBE is simple to do because you’ve already done all the hard work in entering a conscious trance in your first O.B.E.

Once you’ve had a bunch of short OBEs like that you’ll be able to have the more epic-style superhero experiences in OBEs much more easily. So even though the books on lucid dreams and OBEs are a little over optimistic about how fantastic and amazing your very first OBE will be, it’s definitely within your reach to develop your skill in stages and have as many epic OBE adventures as you want!

There are several Astral Projection tips and techniques you can try to achieve an out of body experience. This is the act of travelling to another plane – the astral plane – by focusing on leaving your physical body behind. During this phase your consciousness and your astral body separate together from your physical body. You still have use of all your five senses as well as the senses that are used in the astral body. Most of the time, people who leave their physical body feel as if they are floating as a sense of lightness takes hold.

You can either astral project during sleep or by inducing it whilst you are awake. If you have experienced very vivid dreams while sleeping then chances are good that this was actually astral projection at work.

Is it safe?

It is very safe to astral project as often as you like. Despite some myths, nothing can enter your physical body whilst you are on the astral plane. Your body is completely safe where you left it. Your body is however at risk of sudden shock if something such as a loud noise or jolt takes place. For this reason it is vital to only astral project in a location that is quiet and free of active people.

Other Types of Projection

Other types of projection are mental projection, etheric projection, bilocation and mental projection. It is said that mental projection is the easiest method as the consciousness will focus anywhere you direct it.

The Methods

One method to astral project is to sit in a chair and relax. Start inhaling and exhaling slowly but make sure you don’t fall asleep. Concentrate on your breathing and start picturing yourself about 5 feet away from yourself. Make sure you focus on this image and observe yourself from a distance. Then start moving your astral arms and feet and get in touch with your astral senses of hearing, taste, touch and smell. It won’t take long until the final sense of sight is achieved, as this is often the hardest sense to engage in your astral body.

Another method to astral project is to use the easier mental projection act and then get your astral body to follow along. This is an ideal method if you are experienced with mental projection but new to astral projection.

All astral projection methods require some practice and patience as well as a lot of persistence. Some of the aspects that will determine how successful your astral projection is include focus, relaxation level, outside distractions, breathing techniques, mental imagery and practice.

There are also specific technological tools that can be used that will help you to achieve an Astral Projection much easier.

Often I find that people want to over complicate the mechanics to have an out of body experience. It probably, on some level, is actually easier to make it feel more difficult, complex and esoteric than simply focus on the ease of letting go and flying away into the etheric otherworld. So in this article, we are going to quickly step back from some of the more complex theoretical frameworks, energy fields and the like, and speak again of very easy astral projection. Two steps back, one HUGE step forward. Ready, great let’s do it…

Again, as I always recommend, you should use hemispheric sound technology to entrain your brain for the most conducive and receptive “mindset” for an altered or peak state experience. Simply let your mind go. Push back into your consciousness as you let the melodious sounds sweep you into a vast space of utter nothingness. I often find that simply focusing my field of vision at the very back of my head is enough to bring on the sweet vibrational frequencies of an impending projection. This is actually an old vipassana meditation trick that when your eyes are closed and you focus on a spot you can’t see….your inner eye starts to see complete emptiness, which is the goal.

Once you feel yourself starting to vibrate strangely..simply go with it. Allow it to wash over you. Do not over think. Let the sounds in your headphones sweep you out to a vast and empty space of infinite sweet spaciousness. You will find yourself beginning to float. Again, don’t fight it or think about it. Just be. As the old Zen adage goes – You are what you seek. Don’t search for it – it will come to you! When you start to float, you will feel a buzzing in your inner ear, and that is USUALLY a sign that your consciousness will shift from within your body to somewhere immediately outside of it. Now you are just about there – let it go and so to will you. It’s really that simple, I promise!
